Get your name in the Sobrato Pavilon

Cutting-edge, environmentally friendly and aesthetically beautiful, the Sobrato Pavilion at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center is a marvel.   The new main hospital building will provide essential healthcare services to the entire region for generations to come.

Funded by the taxpayers of Santa Clara County, the construction of the Sobrato Pavilion was supported by an unprecedented community fundraising campaign that raised millions in additional dollars to help outfit the facility with technology, artwork and other patient friendly amenities.

Donors to this campaign have been recognized with a special donor wall in the main lobby, and with plaques dedicating specific rooms or spaces throughout the building.

Some choose to honor a colleague.  Others, a deceased loved one.  Many choose to list their own name as a show of devotion to the institution they care for deeply.

Now, we invite you to join them.

All SCVMC staff and members of the public are now able to donate to the Valley Medical Center Foundation and dedicate a space in the Sobrato Pavilion.   There are few better ways to show your own commitment to healthcare equality in Santa Clara County and to leave a legacy for future SCVMC staff and patients.

What is the Sobrato Pavilion?

The John A. and Susan Sobrato Pavilion is the new main hospital building at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.   The 370,000 square foot building will house SCVMC’s nationally recognized Rehabilitation Center for stroke, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury patients, as well as adult intensive care and other acute care units.

What does space dedication mean?

It means you get to dedicate a space – along with commemorative signage – in your name, or in the name of family or group on a permanent basis in the Sobrato Pavilion.  Above the name, signage will read “Dedicated with Gratitude,” or to honor someone posthumously, “In Memory of”.

What areas are available for dedication in the Sobrato Pavilion?

All donors over $5000 will also be listed on this prominent display in the main lobby.

The most popular option is a patient room, but conference rooms, waiting areas, lobby space and other special locations are available for dedication.  Donors will also be listed on the “Sobrato Pavilion Campaign Donors” wall in the main lobby.

Do I get to pick my room?

Yes.   Rooms are reserved on a first come, first serve basis.  We will show you detailed floorplans, or tour you through the Sobrato Pavilion personally so you can select the space that has the most meaning for you.

How much does it cost?

Space dedication opportunities are divided into four tiers based on required donation amount.  An individual patient room costs $5000.   Larger areas, included major public spaces in the building and entire units are also available.  Contact the VMC Foundation for those details.

Is my contribution tax deductible?

Yes.  The VMC Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.  Consult with your tax professional to determine the full value of your donation.

I’ve donated to the VMC Foundation before.  Can I apply those dollars to this pledge?

In some cases, yes.  Any unrestricted and/or Sobrato Campaign donation made to the VMC Foundation through the “Give a Booster Shot” employee giving campaign, Annual Combined Giving Campaign, or any other method can be applied towards your pledge.  Contact the VMC Foundation to determine your current status.

What are my payment options?

You can pay via cash, check or credit card in one lump donation, or pay in installments via credit card or automatic payroll deduction.

How long do I have to pay?

Pledges must be paid in full by December 31, 2020.

Can I dedicate multiple spaces?

There is no limit to the number of spaces available to an individual, family or group for dedication.   A separate donation is required for each space.

Are there special naming opportunities exclusively for SCVMC employees?

Yes.  SCVMC employees both current and former can donate $1000 via the Give a Booster Shot employee giving campaign, Annual Combined Giving Camping, or direct cash donation and be listed on a special “Heroes Among Us” donor wall in the lobby of the Rehabilitation Center in the Sobrato Pavilion.
